Susie’s December Newsletter
Allow me to distract your busy minds with a few words about our favorite Corner….
First, we have Fried Oysters. They are part of a beautiful medley of fried shrimp and vegetables with our classic roasted garlic mayo. The market price remains high, but feel free to ask for a plate of oysters alone if the mood strikes.
Cheese Pork! remains on the menu through this Saturday . Taking its place for a while will be our Cajun Chicken Livers. I know that many of you have been waiting for these to come back around, and here they are, just for you!
Also, this weekend we will begin our pre-theater, pre-game prix-fixe menu . Offered 5:30-6:30 daily, giving you a chance for a quick, light (for Crook’s) meal before curtain time or tip-off. The price is $35 for a choice of three courses as follows: Salad or Cup of Soup, Catfish Amandine or Chicken Country Captain, Atlantic Beach Pie or Mt Airy Chocolate Soufflé Cake.
Don’t forget to make Crook’s part of your New Year’s Eve plans with our family-style Supper Club. This month will have a little extra sparkle — we are celebrating after all. Shannon is creating a sparkling punch, and Justin will have raw Harker’s Island Oysters, New York Strip, and a Southern Layer Cake with ice cream . It will be decadent, and delicious, lively, and fun. The staff and I are hand-making English Party Crackers for every New Year’s Eve guest.
There’s only one way to find out what we will put in them.
Textile and collage artist, Elaine O’Neil has her stunning, intricate quilts on display and for sale through December.
This year’s show features local food-and-drink establishments and each one is a treasure.
We will have a very special guest, Chapel Hill native and internationally acclaimed violinist Jennifer Curtis with us for an informal concert at Crook’s next Thursday, December 19th at 9:00 pm . Please join us to see this extraordinary talent!
We look forward to seeing you here in December!
